Most of our regular walks take place in Norfolk and surrounding counties. Norfolk is largely a flat county so the walking is quite easy! However, some walks are fairly long, so if you’re new to walking you may want to start with a shorter walk. The walks are generally between 8 and 13 miles (unless otherwise specified), shorter walks tend to take place during the winter months. The length of each walk is shown on the programme and on the Forum. |

- What are the walks like? |
|
Walks usually go ahead regardless of the weather, so rain and mud are likely. The weather can also change during the course of the day and as the walks take us into open countryside, it is likely we will be far from shelter too. Therefore walking boots or shoes and waterproof clothing are recommended. With warm clothing (plenty of layers), gloves, hats, scarf etc. or Sunscreen as appropriate to the time of year. |
|
- What should I wear? |
|
It is recommended that you bring a packed lunch and any other snacks that you feel are necessary to sustain you for the day. Depending on the walk we sometimes stop for a drink at a pub, but if we do, we don’t normally stay long enough to order food. In addition it’s essential to bring a bottle of water with you on all walks and maybe a flask of hot drink in the winter months. |

- What about lunch? |

Generally dogs are allowed, but must be kept on a lead, as we often encounter farm animals. They must also be able to negotiate stiles and other obstacles. It is best to check with the walk leader if you wish to bring a dog. |

The meeting point for each walk is given on the Forum, together with directions. Owing to the rural nature of Norfolk the meeting points are usually at a car park, or near suitable car parking. Unfortunately these locations may not be accessible by public transport. Therefore we try to share lifts where possible, not only for the environmental reasons, but also helps to reduce congestion at the starting points. As members live all around Norfolk, there may be someone going your way! If you need a lift check the Forum or contact the walk leader. |

Forthcoming walks are listed in the Walking Programme and on the Calendar. By clicking on the walk link (if available) in the listings you will be able to read the message posted on the Forum by the walk leader about that walk. In their message, the walk leader will usually give more specific information about times, locations, what to bring and also a brief overview of what the walk will be like. Prospective members are free to attend up to five of walks, before deciding whether to join. See the Become a Member page for information about joining the group. |
|
- I’d like to go walking with the group, what walks do you have? |
|
The Forum is an area of our website, which is open to everyone and allows members to post messages (and reply to messages) about forthcoming walks or social events and generally keep in touch with each other. See What is the Forum for more information. |

As a courtesy it is helpful to let the walk leader know if you wish to attend a walk, this gives the walk leader an idea of numbers attending and also an opportunity to advise you of any last minute changes. You may make contact in one of three ways: · By posting a message in the relevant topic on the Forum. · By Emailing the walk leader directly from the Forum. · By telephoning the walk leader (if number given). Try to arrive at the meeting point at least ten minutes before the advertised start time. |
