Hi everyone,

Meet ready for a 10.30 a.m. start. The walk is a 10 miles. Earl Soham is situated on the A1120 approximately midway between Framlingham and Debenham. The walk takes us along paths, tracks, country lanes and into woodland. This part of Suffolk (often referred to as bow and arrow country) is undulating and unspoilt. Earl Soham one of Suffolk’s best kept secrets. The walk also takes us through Cretingham and Brandeston. If time allows at the end of the walk there is a pub in the village.

Please bring a packed lunch and plenty to drink, I’d recommend more than 1 litre. Parts of the walk could be muddy.

Earl Soham is very easy to find. I would suggest driving from Norwich along the A140, continuing until you reach Little Stonham, where you turn left on to the A1120. You will come down a hill into the village of Earl Soham. Turn right, continue round the double bends and you will see the village green with the village sign. Free parking is available along the roadside. The walk will start from the green.

Its best to text me on 07726 412415 or post here.

I look forward to seeing you

Andrew

N.B. If ‘Max’ the bull is out we can take a small detour.

LOL, I hadn't actually associated the two names, so that wasn't a clever play on words for comic effect!

BTW, on a new subject. The April monthly meal is in hand, but do you have any ideas for a possible May one? E-mail me if you want to take it off the forum to avoid others getting notification requests every 20 seconds!

cheers

We must get used to calling it Greggs, they're all being changed over the next few months!

Anyway, they're shut in the evening! ;)

Either pubs or Greggs will suffice me! (or a kebab shop/KFC/McDonalds/Burger King/Subway/Chinese/Indian/etc)

Agreed, it was a brilliant walk, good weather, good location and interesting area.

I look forward to your Suffolk evening walk Andrew. Hope it's near some pubs!

Hi, all,

I thought I would re-surface, for a change. Thanks, Andrew, for organising the walk. It looks as I will be along for another sometime soon as I left my small motorbike toolkit in your car. It's in a green canvas bag within a Waitrose plastic carrier. Leave it in your car and I will hope to pick it up next time we synchronise our walking. I'll keep tabs on what you are up to by looking on the board.

3 pubs- better not with Julian, we'll still be walking till midnight :)

Hi everyone,

So it looks as though its going to be Adele, Polly, Gordon, Scott, Julian, Jon, Liam, Mark, Graham and Emma. If anyone else decides at the last minute they would like to come please feel free to do so.

If you are coming from Norwich there is an alternative route. Not far south of the Scole bypass take the left turning to Eye, turn left into the village of Occold (Liam you are going to enjoy driving through this village, don't wake the sleeping policemen) and continue through to Earl Soham. Don't forget to turn left to Earl Soham before you reach Ashfield.

There will be the option of stopping off at as many as 3 pubs.

Look forward to seeing everyone

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

I'm afraid I won't be able to make your walk now. Mais is pretty poorly so I won't be going far this weekend,

hope you all have a great time, weather looks good,

Hi Adrian,
Thanks for the tip about the pub. My next walk will probably be near Halesworth. Hopefully you'll be able to make that one.
Andrew
