Please arrive ready for a 10.30 a.m. start. The walk is 11 miles. Huntingfield is in Suffolk, about 3 miles from Halesworth. The walk takes us through some Suffolk’s most beautiful undulating countryside along paths, tracks, country lanes and on the edge woodland. The highlight of the route is the path which goes across the Capability Brown designed grounds of Heveningham Hall (one of England’s finest 18th-century stately homes), between the lakes and the hall itself. There are outstanding views of the hall. If time allows at the end of the walk we can have a drink at the village pub.

Please bring a packed lunch and plenty of water to drink. I’d recommend more than 1 litre (I drank 1.5 litres on the recce). There are a few short patches of nettles.

Huntingfield is very easy to find. I would suggest driving from Norwich along the A144, through Bungay, then having driven down the hill into Halesworth, go straight on at the first 2 roundabouts, take the first exit at the 3rd roundabout and continue up the hill out of the town on the B1117. Drive through Walpole and immediately after Heveningham Hall take the turning on the right to Huntingfield. Please park anywhere near the pub, as this is where will start.

It is best to text/phone me on 07726 412415 or post here. Please ensure you allow sufficient time for you’re your journey, so we can all start promptly at 10.30am

I look forward to seeing you. I can give a lift to 3 people from the Diss area.

Andrew
N.B. If anyone is going to bring a dog, please be aware there could be a large flock of sheep with their lambs.

This project (the walk) sounds appealing + I can attend but at moment don't have a car, so if somebody is to depart from Norwich and could give me a lift, that would be appreciated + i'll chip in towards fuel cost.

Hi Kath,

Huntingfield is about 29 miles from Norwich, and should take around 55 minutes or slightly more to reach. Good to hear you enjoyed Paula's walk.

Hope to see you on Sunday.

Andrew

PS A message for everyone, apart from Hugh, who has contributed with cat posts. We've had our fun, so now it would be good to stop clogging up this walk thread with cat chat. Thanks

Michelle is not happy- she says you can take her GHD hair straighteners but never will you take her Bailey :)

Hi Andrew,
I may be able to come on your walk on Sunday. How far (time-wise) is the start from Norwich?
Paula & everyone else, I really enjoyed my first walk on Sunday with you all - I felt really welcome so thank you everyone.
See you soon
Kath

I know where I can get a cat from if you wanted one Paula. Think it's just reached two, answers to the name Bailey.
Paula Posted - 11/05/2009 : 22:41:11
And before anyone gets there first: I am not another foreigner wanting to take advantage of the system!
I just want a cat but can't afford one with all the vet bills etc and wouldn't want to leave it on its own all day.

Aha...! I've just remembered I haven't checked the results from the weekend's Euromillions and Lottery - I could be a millionnaire...

I think this Forum posting has got overrun by something other than walking so I'll also add a pointless posting!

If I adopt a cat, is there any way I could get caternity leave and cat benefit?

Just had my weekly comic fix on your forum, banters just great - mad but great!

PS hubby says two bricks cheaper than vets

Thank you for the e-mail Andy. I can't read it yet as I can't remember my e-mail password. The cat has turned up this morning very hungry, so we will take it to the vets on Saturday. Marriage is very over-rated, instead of a lovely day walking I have to look after a cat. But I will find time soon. Thank you.

4 cats are plenty, though all of mine have a bit missing so they probably add up to nearly 3 whole cats,

Hi Hugh,
I've just sent an email directly to you.

No you don't pay to come walking unless there is any car parking fees.

I have one cat and it is enough hassle but 7?!

Actually you may be onto something getting people to pay a walk leader when they take part- I like that idea :)
julian.white Posted - 10/05/2009 : 22:27:37
No, it's all free! Andrew was being witty! You'll get used to that after a while.

I'll be quiet now so that this thread doesn't get over-run by cats!
hughbrown Posted - 10/05/2009 : 22:24:25
Do you have to pay to come walking? Is it per car? I might bring my missus if it is to get my money's worth.

Sorry if I seemed heartless, she has seven cats, we've lost a couple before to neighbours.

This is all becoming very surreal! Er, good luck with the cat hunting!
hughbrown Posted - 10/05/2009 : 22:11:52
Some good news; the wife's cat has gone missing so if we don't find it by Saturday I will be able to partake in your walk.

Hi Sarah,

I'm glad I mentioned the nettles, so you can avoid a rash.

There were several coastal walks last year.

Hope to see you soon.

Hi Hugh,

Good luck with your cat! I'd like to say something else but as I don't know you.............and your sense of humour will leave it.

Andrew
julian.white Posted - 09/05/2009 : 23:16:50
Yes, the group does do coastal walks, Liam and me (the younger members of the group) are planning one now.

Sorry to hear you can't go because of the nettles, but there are lots which are accessible to you.

Hugh, good luck with the cat operation! Hope he isn't in too much pain afterwards!

julian.

I've had a think about the walk, it sounds very good, but I'm allergic to nettles which give me a rash. But I hope to see you all soon, do you do coastal walks?
