Hi,

this walk takes us back to the lovely ,Waveney Valley, but further west this time.

It's a circular walk that I've made up by combining two smaller circular walks in a booklet on Waveney Valley walks, and will take us from Homersfield on a short stretch of road and then into tracks through fields, woodland and pasture...if it's rained there may be some mud in places but the recce was quite firm underfoot most of the way...the public footpath even takes us through someone's front garden, with small signs pointing the way through the veggie plots - the house is for sale, I wonder why?
We descend into the small village of Mendham and then walk on the floodplain or edge of the floodplain back to Homersfield, with nice expansive views.
One field of about 20 inquisitive calves to negotiate, but they were fine.
Probably best to bring a packed lunch on this one, but at the start and finish we're next to the Black Swan for drinks, and there is also the Alfred Munnings in Mendham if people want to stop there instead, a couple of miles from the end of the walk.

Meet ready for a 10.30 start at the village car park opposite the pub.
Homersfield is just off the main A143 a short way east of Harleston. I guess the easiest way from Norwich is to take the road to Bungay and then turn right on the A143.

I expected 5 but there were 9 of us in the end and luckily we had a nice day and managed to visit 2 pubs, see a vintage motorbike gathering, hear some live folk music and witness a wasp invasion whilst supping on great ales, so not a bad day in all. See you again

Ok Andrew, so this will be a nice small group of 5, unless anyone else wants to join us there. See you tomorrow folks.

Hi Jonny,

Sorry I'm not going to make your walk. My brother's family are visiting.

I expect it will be a good one.

Andrew

Lift permitting, I'll be at this one :)

The idea of walking through someone's front garden is too interesting to miss! (I don't get out much clearly.....)

julian.
