Posted - 06/09/2009 : 17:47:17 While a group is on the Hadrian's Wall trip, would any of the rest of you be interested in doing some cycling down at Thetford Forest?
We can meet at High Lodge at 10.30am, do the easiest trail first and work our way up, doing another one or two. I doubt I'll have the energy or ability to do the Black Route at end but others are welcome to attempt it.
It would be better (and cheaper) to take your own bike if you can, however bikes can also be hired from Bike Art. To book a bike telephone 01842 810090.
The address is High Lodge Forest Centre, Brandon, Suffolk, IP27 0AF. Click on this link for more information http://www.bike-art.com/index.html
Here is a map of their location http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?sourceid=navclient&rlz=1T4GPEA_enGB298GB299&q=IP27+0AF&um=1&ie=UTF-8&split=0&gl=uk&ei=feWjSqW1CMifjAeur5nFDg&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=image&resnum=1
You will need water while cycling around, but bring a packed lunch as well. We can leave them in our cars and get back to them at lunchtime.
Please post below if you are interested.

Posted - 13/09/2009 : 19:36:39 Thanks Clive, Sarah and Mark for making it an enjoyable day.
Something that is definitely worth repeating, and soon - hopefully with other members of NYWCCG (Norfolk Young Walking, Cycling and Canoeing Group).

Posted - 10/09/2009 : 12:50:54 There are 4 of us for this so far:
Clive, Sarah, myself, and Mark (from the SA club). If we want to go in two cars we will need another bike rack so hope one of you can get hold of one.
If anyone else is keen to join us please post below. We will work out before Sunday how to get everyone and their bikes to Thetford.

Posted - 08/09/2009 : 18:56:07 I've managed to scrounge a bike rack from Alan. But it only carries 2 bikes so, depending how many of us go, we might need another one.

Posted - 08/09/2009 : 10:38:07 No, I don't unfortunately but I am trying to beg, borrow or steal one for Sunday. Can you ask around as well?
If anyone has a bike rack they can lend us, please make yourselves known. One of us will pick it up before Sunday and return it afterwards, and we will take good care of it.

Posted - 07/09/2009 : 09:21:54 Yeah, thanks Liam. I think parking is £1.60/hour so if we're going all that way it will be worth doing as much as we can! |

Posted - 06/09/2009 : 21:04:46 Hi Paula just as a word of advice, I would recommend car sharing if possible as if you are there all day- the car park costs £8.00 for each car.
The Black Route is well worth it, even Julian managed this one and the Beast is really fun and nearly all downhill.
Trails are as follows:
Red Route: 11 miles Black Route: 10 miles
Cheers

Posted - 06/09/2009 : 18:54:45 Thanks Julian. It's a shame you will be away.
Clive - thanks for opening this topic for me! You said you were keen on doing this as well so that's two of us so far...

Posted - 06/09/2009 : 17:50:15 Obviously I can't go as I'm at Hadrian's Wall, but this is excellent! I did the red and black route last week, and it's fun :)
Definitely need more cycling events :)
Hope it goes well!
