Hello everyone.

It is a shock to return home freezing England with snow, after only last week being in NZ where it was in the mid 20s!

I've been looking at accommodation for Hadrian's Wall in May and alot is already booked. How do does everyone feel about going for a long weekend in September? The idea would be to walk about half the wall, between 40-50 miles. One day could be as far as 15 miles, with the remaining days between 10 and 12 miles, although one day might be less than 10 miles. The plan would be to drive up on a Thursday/Friday returning on a Tuesday/Wednesday.

As much feedback as possible would be appreciated, alternatively let me know on my walk on February 22nd.

Thanks

Andrew

I'd be happy with this!

I was planning to do a repeat of the Sussex weekend in September, but I could change this to the May weekend in place of this one if people wanted it.

Sounds a good plan on both fronts, both Sussex and Hadrian's Wall :)

..count me in...be great.
Thanks for organising it...

Hi Andrew

I would be interested in this, though not sure if I could persuade Matt to do it, will have to get him out for some training.

Welcome back Andrew,

September would suit me, as would the length of the walks.
Looking forward to this, should be a hoot.

Thanks for arranging this one.

Hello everyone,

Dates in September for this event will be:-

Depart on Friday 11th, expecting to stay 2 nights in Carlisle in B&B or similar, ditto the 3rd night and probably a Youth Hostel on the 4th and 5th nights. Return home on Wednesday 16th.

If you'd like to come for sure, please let me know. More details to follow shortly.

Liam, is there a list then of the number of posts everyone has made?

That's not good, because some members could abuse that to get up the lists?

I thought you might get angry if you saw that your Hadrian's Wall thread had been side-lined :)

I have a couple of friends who I might be able to get to come along as well, I'll see what I can do :)

Can you put my name down for this one, i may have to find a B&B though due to my sleeping problems (unless they have double rooms?), dont want to wake others up.

Hopefully Andrea, Matt and Mr Tate will come along too :)

Hello everyone,

Herewith further details, including the walking distance for each day. Also suggested B & B accommodation. I have booked in to Tantallon House and The Centurion Inn. I believe some people would like to walk all of Hadrian’s Wall, therefore anyone doing this will not be staying in Carlisle on September 15th. There is a sherpa service for transferring luggage from one B&B to another. The cost for each day is £5/£7, depending on which company we use. I am prepared to book this once I know where everyone is staying. However, I would ask those who are walking the full distance of the wall to book this service for themselves. If people email me I can provide further details.

I would recommend that B&B accommodation to be booked a.s.a.p. The advantage of staying at The Premier Inn is that we don’t have to pay until we arrive. Also we can cancel up to midday the day of arrival and not have to pay.

Travel arrangements i.e. car sharing, will be arranged nearer the departure date.

Any queries, please email me at artgd3@yahoo.co.uk
