The AGM will be held on Wednesday 18th March 2009 at 20:00, at the Scout HQ, Jessop Road.
The purpose of the meeting will be to elect our first committee, to adopt our constatution and to approve any policy elements that are proposed.
To this end, we need proposals for at least the following roles:
Chairman Secretary Treasurer Membership secretary
The following roles are not critical to the group, but would be useful to be filled:
Social secretary Recruitment officer Publicity officer Other council members
If you would like to propose someone for a post, please seek their consent first, and then post their name on the appropriate topic, within the committee discussions area of the forum.
Anyone who is a member of this forum, is welcome to attend the AGM, but only those who are Ramblers' Association members (and attached to our group) will be permitted to vote.
If you are not a member of the RA, now would be a very good time to join, so that you can fully participate in the AGM. Furtermore, post AGM, we will be making more of a push to get non members who have been on more than 3 walks to join the RA. If you are a Tesco customer, you can use your club card vouchers to join the RA extremely cheaply!
If you wish to discuss the AGM or the committee roles, you can use this forum thread to do so!
The AGM will be followed by refreshments and a time to socialise.

Yep, I'll be there.
If there is an officer role of "head of food" then I am prepared to let my name go forward :)
Looking forward to the doughnuts :) |

I propose Richard for chairman.
I can confirm no money has changed hands for this. |

Richard, on another issue, a couple of people asked is there parking available at the scout hut?
There were also 36 people who asked about the refreshments.
(just passing on the information i receive) |

Yes, there is quite a lot of parking onsite.
Please do not arrive to early before the 20:00 start time, as the parents will be picking up the Beavers from 19:30, and the drive in is single track, so we want to avoid congestion.

| I'm still waiting for clarification on the refreshments. As I have already been let down on the promise of unlimited doughnuts and a free vodka bar. |

Apologies, but I am unable to attend due to events surrounding a sick parent.
I was going to make a suggestion at the meeting that members exercise caution about posting their contact details, ie name, address and phone numbers on the forums and instead consider using the email function to send these on to other members, out of public view. It might save unwanted attention or uninvited visitors while you're out walking.

Many thanks Richard for organising tonight, and for the refreshments which were more than sufficient :)
Best of luck to the new committee for the year ahead. |
