I have quite a list of social events that people have asked me to organise, so I'll give a go at a few. Obviously I know there's a limit to money and number of events, but we'll see how it goes.

It has been suggested that we spend three nights on a Hoseasons Broads weekend cruiser in July to August sort of time. I'd need at least 5 people to want to go. It would be about 90-100 pounds each for the three nights boat hire, plus maybe some minor extras and of course food, etc.

We could then maybe organise some short walks in the day, and some suitable evening entertainment.

If people are interested, please post so I can see if there is interest. If I can get five definites for a weekend I'll arrange to book something. The maximum, I think, is 12 people per boat.

I am all for this providing it is not on the following days:

21st August (another dreaded wedding )

PS If on 31st July it would be good as I will be 25- yes 25 not 32.

I'm happy to celebrate your 30th if others are up for that?

A friend of mine can do the weekend of 31st July, so that's three people. Could Michelle go, or are you leaving her with your cat?

This looks like a plan that might come together!

Michelle would stay with Bailey yes, but she can come out and visit during the day/night.

I think Hoseasons is across the road from my flat!

Yeah boats are easy to drive, but not park, plus you don't need a licence and you can drink and drive (I think that may have changed recently though)

I wonder if it'll have all the gadgets like Richard's car has, with little cameras and beepy things when you get close to other objects? If not, you can park it.

We need two more people to want to come on the weekend of the 31st July.

It'll be like a big birthday party for ya :)

Nicky, yeah, including fuel it will be about 125 pounds each. Depends on numbers but doesn't vary much, so use that as a rough guide.

It's not bad for three nights though. Boat might be a bit cramped with all of us, but I'm sure it'll be fine :)

Think you have to come really, since it's now Liam's 30th birthday party!

I have the power - updated the title for you! :)

.. Don't think my budget will stretch to staying on the boat - but would be happy to meet up during one of the days! :)

I'm happy to come on walks during the day. As an aside is Michelle nocturnal?

Hi,

Please put Laurence and I down for this, although I might have to go a bit early to pitch a tent!

OK, for the moment then:

Definites:

Liam
Julian
Ross
Richard
Laurence

Possibles:

Emma
Nicky
Danny

I've read their booking instructions and we only have a pay a deposit for the moment (balance due 10 weeks before leaving), so I'll collect some names over the next week or so and aim to make a booking then.

Anyone else? :) [sits and looks hopeful and reminds everyone this is Liam's 30th birthday so we have to make it impressive!]

I am guessing that you will need to know the size of boat to place a deposit on, so I suggest that you set a deadline. (Unless you can upsize your boat, post deposit?)

Yes, think you're right. I'll say that I intend to book this on April 1st - which would actually mean we would have to pay the amount due a couple of weeks after.

So you have until April 1st to decide everyone :)

Just to add, I'll try and post a vague plan of where we'll be (which might be hard if im driving the thing and liam is trying to recover it from where ive crashed it) in case others want to just come along for the evening or something.

We want the biggest baddest boat we can afford! Something like this would be good but not sure it would fit on the river.

And Andrew are you planning in keeping Michelle company during the night whilst I'm away at sea so to speak, you're a sly one.
