OK so after the recce last night I can finalise details of an adventurous night hike around the Norfolk Broads, taking us from Stalham to the coast along the Weavers Way and across fields via a number of spooky churches. Walking in darkness adds an extra thrill to normal day walking, with ample opportunity to see the night wildlife and also see the lights of Norfolk towns and villages glowing in the distance, and stars if it is a clear night.

Meet time: 21:00 at my flat in Stalham here: Google Map Link

Parking: Free car park off Stalham High Street.

Route Length: 16 miles

We will visit local pub before hand and also have the opportunity to stock up on snacks etc from Tesco.

I recommend to bring the usual day walk gear i.e. waterproofs, walking boots etc and a torch of course. Warm clothes and hot drink would also be a good idea.

If you wish to crash at mine after the walk, please bring a sleeping bag too!

If you require further info please post or contact me on 07919 160287.

Cheers

Liam

Sorry I'm unlikely to be able to make this. I hope the weather is kind to you.

Hopefully you'll plan more night walks in future - nice with something different. I'm sorry not to be around that weekend.

As I said at the christmas dinner, if you have never tried a night walk before, I urge you to give this one, or another a go ... the night element really adds something exciting to the walking experience.

I cannot put into words why this is, I just know I love them!

Hi Liam, Just to confirm that I will come along for this it should be fun. Julian I heard on the grapevine that you might be feeling a little scared about this. Dont worry it will probably be too cold for ghosts and gremlins to be out but if it gets too bad I will hold your hand.

Cool :) The graveyard bits are a bit scary (and I am easily scared) so all support welcome!

Thanks Bert, Ian, Julian and Scott for coming to this walk- despite the heavy snow storms, spirits remained high and the walk was completed successfully with zero visibility at times.

Cheers

And well done on some excellent map reading skills!

Look forward to night hikes becoming a monthly event, and thanks to everyone, was a great night!

And we had two pub stops (albeit at the beginning of the walk), and most importantly, I beat Liam at pool. After that, nothing else mattered

This was a fun event, the weather certainly made for a memorable night, I have never been on a beach at 3am in a blizzard before. Thanks for organizing this Liam and for the excellent job you did with the navigation. Will certainly be up for another one. Hopefully there should be some photo's on the web site in a day or so.
