Summer is upon us so it's BBQ- and Pimms-time!

To celebrate the re-launch of the group with its brand new name (and other changes to come), we decided at recent committee meetings that it might be nice to mark this by getting everyone together for a social event, and what better way than a summer BBQ! All partners/friends are very welcome too!

Date: Saturday 14 August from around 7:00 pm

I'm putting out some feelers, to help me choose a venue, so it would be helpful to get an indication of fairly certain numbers, therefore please express your interest below if you're likely to come along. Most venues will need a minimum number in order to set up a BBQ for us. The more, the merrier!

Look forward to hearing from you and hopefully seeing you on the 14th.

If anyone has any questions re location/cost etc., pls email me. I'm hoping to go for somewhere near Norwich so that it is fairly central and convenient for most. I'm guessing the cost will be around £10/head, but it will depend on numbers. More later...

I would like to encourage prospective new members to come along to our re-launch event. There will be a couple of walks before then to meet people, but our chairman, Richard, and walk leader, Ian, will both be at the party, so they (as well as any of our friendly members) will be able to ask any walking questions you may have. Hopefully a good opportunity to meet most of our regular walkers too! As ever, pls email me if any Q's if you prefer not to post here.

Hi Sil, Andrea and I will definitely be coming to this - I assume you will cater for people who don't like meat inside them (-;

Great!

Good question Matt,

The Eagle is looking like the likely choice if a BBQ is possible. The regular BBQ menu includes a plate of each of the following items:

6oz pure beef hamburger
Bratwurst sausages
Lemon & herb marinated chicken
Sweet potato, spinach & peanut curry v.
Grilled sardines with lemon & thyme
A selection of salads to include;
Mixed leaf
Tomato & red onion
Coleslaw
Spicy jacket wedges
Relishes & dips

The pub tells me that the alternatives for "veggies" is a spinach, peanut & sweet potato curry served with pitta bread. Hmmm... Not sure if this takes your fancy, but obviously you could choose items from the menu instead, if not.

Sil,

Sounds good - perhaps they could also throw a couple of pints in to make me feel like I'm not missing out!

Hello,

Thanks for more recent posts expressing interest in coming to this! I hope as many of you as possible can come along.

I've now confirmed The Eagle as our venue for the BBQ on Saturday 14 August. The venue is in Norwich, on Newmarket Road, so it's within easy access if you're coming in from the A11. Details:

http://www.theeaglepub.co.uk/

They will do the BBQ for us at 8:30 pm, but it might be nice to arrive a little earlier for drinks. Details of what the BBQ includes are listed in an earlier post I made (see above). Note also in the posts that the pub caters for Vegetarians at the BBQ.

Around 10 people have confirmed their places so far. To confirm your place and BBQ meal, please email me to arrange advance payment, and I'll provide you with details. A bank account has been set up, alternatively you can send me a checque. You will be able to do this up to 3 days prior to the event. I am avoiding hassles by avoiding payment on the day.

Hope to hear from you soon, and that it will be a nice opportunity to catch up!

Sil
