This is one of the walks in that great Walking special of the EDP a short while back, which is a great resource. It takes us through the parklands surrounding Blickling Hall and is a nice easy circular walk, so what better way of breaking up the monotony of another boring week at the office than getting some fresh air somewhere new? More details to follow, like where to meet, etc... I will also do some diligent enquiries for somewhere for a quick drink afterwards...and it will have to be quick because my alarm will be going off at 4.45am the next day
Suitable for beginners, wimps or even serious walkers.
This walk will go ahead if 2 or more other people say they're coming. |

We would very much like to come along to this walk. However I'm going to say don't consider us as definites (we will confirm nearer the time) as I'm getting bigger and slower by the day and it's hard for me to know what I'll feel up to in 11 days time!
BTW I'm going to embarrass Tom now by saying that the grounds of Blickling Hall is where he proposed to me!

I will join you for this Jonny.
Ref. somewhere for a drink afterwards, depending on where you were parking and starting from The Buckinghamshire arms could be an option which is almost next to the main car park to Blickling Hall.

Unfortunately we're not going to be able to make this one now - not because of my infirmity (!!) but because Tom now has to go to a works do that evening. Hope you have a lovely time!

Hiya Jon,
I'm a bit disappointed that I'm unable to make this one, as I'd be a fan of walks during the week that are difficult to make over weekends. Are you planning some more shorter week-day evening walks this summer? Would be good!
Enjoy this one, all.

Yes Sil, there will be more evening walks. I'm doing one in Thorpe soonish - watch this space. There are some others on the programme as well, I think.
I did the recce for this today and it's a very pleasant walk around the lake and the perimeter of the hall grounds, with some nice views of the hall. We will pass the pub half way around so one possibility could be a 'thirst break' rather than a drink at the end, but democracy will win the day!
We will meet at what some call the Fisherman's Carpark at the northern end of the lake. Coming along the Blickling Road from Aylsham (A140 from Norwich and straight through the town) take a right turn at a grass triangle in the road signposted Ingworth. I think Aylsham is signed as 1 mile from there. This is just before arriving at Blickling and is not the first Ingworth turn after Aylsham.
Follow this road for around 1km and then turn first left, signed Itteringham. On a right bend after another km is the entrance to the small free car park which doesn't have a big Parking sign, but does have a small white National Trust sign by the gate.
This is where we'll meet and then we'll head south by the lake and around in front of the hall and past the Buckinghamshire Arms and then back up past the lake. It would be £2.50 to park at the National Trust car park so we will avoid that. I can pick up from Norwich as long as its somewhere on my route between Eaton - ring road - A140. Sorry, but it's a very early start for me the next day so I want to be able to hurry back home at the end. Paula, if you don't want to bike the extra to this car park you could meet us half way at the front of the hall and go with us back to the car park and then with your friend for the other side back to your bike. Up to you, but it's only a mile or so more for you!
Grid Ref for the car park is 180296 Explorer Map 252. CU at 7pm. If not coming, please let me know, as having been on my own there today I have no need for a repeat, but will enjoy it in a small group, or even just one. Thanks.
Any issues, call me 07752225339

Hi, really sorry, but I'm a bit unwell today and have also hurt one of my eyes, so I'll be unable to make today's walk. But if you still want to go ahead please do so. There are several walks all marked from that car park. Hope to see you again soon. I'll try emailing and texting those who have said they're coming. Jon |

Hi, sorry to be crap but I've just had a hideous journey back fromReading and now have a headache - typical. I'm not sure if people are still planning on going this evening but I think I'm unlikely to. Sorry!

| Hi All, Well, since our leader is not going to make it and the weather right now is awful, I'm afraid that I'll be withdrawing from this one too. Not worth getting soaked for a 3 mile saunter ! |

| Hi all, no eye patch, but a nasty poke in the eye by a 3 year old girl! Accidental, of course, but also not been feeling good all day. Waht a washout, so no great loss there. I'll try to put on this walk another evening and hope to see you there. |
