Note new start time- I have moved the start time to 11am not as stated in the programme as it is a bit further for people to travel and we have plenty of daylight this time of year.
This 10 mile walk on a lovely part of the Norfolk coast offers extensive views across Cley marshes (with its abundant bird life) and also out to Blakeney point. The walk is on good paths throughout with a section along the beach at the end. We will stop for a drink in Salthouse on the way round as the garden of the pub is a pleasant spot to sit for half an hour overlooking the marshes. This is after about 8 miles so will be too late for lunch so you will need to bring a packed lunch with you.
We will meet for an 11am start at the car park at the end of Beach road, grid reference TG 048453 on OS Explorer map 251 Norfolk coast central. Click here for map http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Cley+Next+the+Sea,+Holt&sll=53.852527,-4.042969&sspn=13.527902,46.362305&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Cley+Next+the+Sea,+Holt,+Norfolk,+United+Kingdom&ll=52.965287,1.047649&spn=0.026933,0.090551&z=14 At this time of year this is a pay car park and is £3.00 for the day so you may want to share lifts. I will be travelling from Taverham so could offer a lift from Taverham or Drayton area.
As I said earlier you will need to bring a packed lunch and plenty of drink and the usual good walking footwear, waterproofs, sunscreen, hat and maybe insect repellent.
In case anyone needs to contact me my mobile number is 07528934706

Hi Nicky and welcome to the group, in answer to your question there is nothing else you need to do just turn up at the start point by 11am. Bring with you a packed lunch and drink along with any of the other items I have mentioned above that you may want, although waterproofs are recommended whatever the forecast might be, we did have someone recently who turned up without any and who ended up getting very wet.
If you have any other questions then feel free to email me through the forum or post here or alternatively you can call me on the mobile number above.
Look forward to meeting you on the 8th Ian |

Hi Ian -
Sorry we can't make this one - but wish we could as it is a great walk, and loved it when we walked it in November !
Have a good day all,

Hi It now looks unlikely I can make this walk. It's a shame as I'm feeling fit having just completed Hadrian's Wall.

Welcome to the group Tim always good to see new people coming along.
So far for tomorrow we have Nicky, Graham, Tim, Jonathan with possibly Emily.
Any more takers for this lovely scenic walk ?
Any questions then post here or email me and I will look this evening or call me this evening on number above as I will be in a poor mobile reception area for most of the day. |

I will be joining you tomorrow Ian and bringing someone with me.
I know it's short notice but if anyone needs a lift from Norwich, please give me a ring on 07812 564872 as I have a car again! Coming from Thorpe Hamlet I will be picking up in Eaton before heading out on the Holt Road.
See you all tomorrow,
Paula |

Thanks to everyone who came today for making me feel so welcome. I really enjoyed the walk and hope it will be the first of many more to come. And thanks to Ian for organising.
Now off to watch "The Great Outdoors' on iPlayer!
Cheers,

Thanks to everyone who came along today and made it an enjoyable day, glad you all enjoyed it. 11 of us in the end so better turn out than it first looked like. We were blessed with a lovely day which made for some good views throughout the walk.
The Great Outdoors has certainly got everyone talking about it, several have suggested it is based on Hike Norfolk
